Family Eldercare’s Pecan Gardens has made history as the first housing development in Austin, Texas to be awarded the Crime Free Multi Housing Certificate by the Austin Police Department.
Safe, decent, affordable housing is critical to the well-being of our older neighbors. That is why this certification is so important to us and our residents.
Pecan Gardens residents celebrated with city officials, housing advocates, law enforcement, and Family Eldercare leadership at the certification ceremony on September 16, 2025.
Why It Matters:
This achievement reflects a proactive approach to building safe, secure, and welcoming communities.
Pecan Gardens met the required standard of care related to security, operations, and leasing practices. Training followed the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) model–a proven, proactive strategy for preventing crime.
