Family Eldercare Embraces Proven Leadership in New CEO
Austin, TX –The Board of Directors at Family Eldercare proudly introduces Mr. Kent Herring as their new Chief Executive Officer beginning July 1st. Herring joins their mission with great experience in personally working with the aging community for over 20 years. Herring is currently relocating from Abilene where he spent 8 years as the Regional Vice President of Sears Methodist Retirement System and the Executive Director of Wesley Court Methodist Retirement Community, along with 11 years of sub-acute hospital experience in Waco, Texas. He has an extensive track record of building strong and successful organizations and managing large operations.
“Working with seniors for the past 20 years I have gained an appreciation for the many facets of care we can offer to our seniors,” said Herring. “Today, we have the privilege and opportunity to serve ‘The Greatest Generation’ and leave a legacy on how we can provide a ministry of service with a servant’s heart to all of our seniors regardless of circumstance.”
“Family Eldercare offers unduplicated programs that are crucial to the well-being of the clients we serve. The members of the CEO Selection Committee were committed to finding a CEO that would not only be a good fit for our current mission, but also ensure that Family Eldercare would remain the leading agency on aging and serve the ever growing populations of seniors and adults with disabilities,” commented Family Eldercare Board President Frank Leffingwell. “Kent’s style of leadership will be a great fit for the culture at Family Eldercare and will help us meet the always evolving needs of the community.”
Herring began his career as a chef, but through his experience as a restaurant owner in the 1980’s, he realized his true passion was working with seniors. His desire to better the lives of those with disabilities stems from his wife’s career of working with children who have been diagnosed with Autism. Kent’s passions and experience pose to be a great fit at Family Eldercare and they are excited to welcome him on board starting July 1st.
“Having recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, Family Eldercare is a cornerstone in Austin in the delivery of senior services,” remarked Herring after accepting the CEO position. “I am very excited about the opportunity to join a great staff in continuing to be a leader in providing services to our seniors. I am also excited for the future as we look for opportunities to grow Family Eldercare to serve seniors for generations to come.”
Herring and his wife Christine, have three children and four grandchildren. He also currently serves as a board member of Leading Age Texas and has served as an advisory for Long Term Care at McLennen Community College.
