When the heat climbs into the 90s and 100s, homes without access to air conditioning can become dangerously hot—often hotter inside than outside. Unfortunately, not everyone has or can afford A/C. The heat impacts our most vulnerable neighbors the most: Older adults, individuals with disabilities or chronic medical conditions, and families with low incomes.
Fans help cool your body. Fans can lower body temperature which can prevent or delay heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Fans also help people sleep in hot homes, reducing the stress that extreme heat puts on the heart and body overnight.
Fans cost pennies a day to run and are an affordable solution to vulnerable neighbors who don’t have or can’t afford them.
That’s why your donation matters. You can help by supporting the Family Eldercare Summer Fan Drive which provides free box fans to our neighbors who need them most.
Every contribution—big or small—helps keep Central Texans safe and cool this summer.
