2013 Institute on Aging Workshops Announced!

After a successful launch in 2012, the Family Eldercare Institute on Aging is back with an exciting roster of workshops and trainings available for the Central Texas community!

The Austin-Round Rock Metro area has the second-fastest senior population growth in the nation. With that growth comes some exciting possibilities for our community. But, we must also recognize the need to prepare so the entire community has the information, support and resources necessary to serve the needs of so many seniors. Family caregivers and professionals who work with seniors (social workers, lawyers, etc.) will need to increase their capacity with solid information and a better grasp of the differences involved in serving older adults capably and with dignity. Aging 101, Tools for Financial Protection of Older Adults, Fall Prevention, Everyday with Alzheimer’s are just a handful of the topics covered by Family Eldercare’s on-staff experts. Our team draws upon 30 years of service in the Central Texas community and a mission dedicated to improving the lives of those we serve.

Workshops covering a wide range of topics are scheduled roughly twice per month at the Family Eldercare officers on Rutherford Drive. Additional trainings in the evening, in other communities and on-site at faith communities, corporations and other organizations are also offered. Most workshops are $10 per person, and CEU’s are available.
