Family Eldercare's Bill Payer Services helps elders and people with disabilities continue to live independently, in their homes and in their neighborhoods. We currently serve clients in Travis and Williamson counties.
Family Eldercare celebrates aging independently by providing the assistance elderly and people with disabilities need. As a less restrictive alternative to guardianship, Family Eldercare utilizes trained volunteers to provide bill payer assistance. AARP is a collaborative partner and assists with recruiting, training and insuring volunteers. Volunteers serve in two capacities:
Bill payer volunteers are trained and supported by professional Care Managers to provide bill payer assistance to low-income elders and people with disabilities to enable them to continue living independently. The clients have the capacity to remain in control of their finances and they voluntarily receive the services. The tasks include sorting mail, writing checks for the client to sign, balancing the checkbooks and making sure bills are mailed in a timely manner.
Representative payees are approved to receive benefits issued by Social Security, Office of Personnel Management, Railroad Retirement or Veterans' Administration. Volunteers are trained to provide budget setup, checkbook balancing and management of monthly bill payments for individuals determined to be incapable of handling their own finances. Monitoring and insurance is provided.
Those eligible for Bill Payer Services must be:
