MindAlert WorkshopDate: Friday, November 14, 2008 Presenter: Ruth Flexman PhD, Academy of Lifelong Learning Coordinator, University of Delaware in Wilmington. Local professional who work with older adults are invited to this opportunity to expand their ability to incorporate cognitive stimulation into their programs. The MindAlert Program seeks to disseminate research and innovative practices that address the steps that older adults can take to maintain and enhance cognitive and mental functions in their later years. Older adults are also invited to attend a portion of this workshop and will participate in a demonstration of experiential exercises along with the professionals attending. These exercises will demonstrate ways to increase mental fitness and that learning can be fun! Dr. Flexman has received the MetLife Foundation MindAlert Award and is recognized as an innovative community-based program leader; translating research related to enhancing cognitive function in later life into practical mental/cognitive health promotion activities.
